Apple unveiled the A20 Pro chip at its "Surprise and Shine" event, marking its first 2nm processor. This chip powers the new iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro, and iPhone 18 Pro Max, delivering significant upgrades in CPU, GPU, and AI performance.

The A20 Pro features a new architecture with denser transistors, enabling a six-core CPU with two 20% faster supercores and four efficiency cores. The GPU is a seven-core design with up to 40% better performance, while the Neural Engine now has 32 cores, doubling compute power for on-device AI tasks.

Memory bandwidth increases by 50% thanks to the widest memory interface ever in an iPhone. The chip also adopts an M-series-inspired packaging, placing the die alongside memory to improve thermal management and efficiency.

This new display engine supports the iPhone Duo's dual screens, ensuring smooth transitions and consistent visuals around the under-display camera. Overall, the A20 Pro sets a new standard for mobile performance and AI capabilities.
