Abu Dhabi-based G42 has partnered with U.S. chipmaker Cerebras to deploy 8 exaflops of computing power in India through a new supercomputer system. The project, announced at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, will be hosted locally and comply with India's data residency and security requirements.

The initiative aims to provide AI computing resources to educational institutions, government entities, and small and medium enterprises. Manu Jain, CEO of G42 India, emphasized that sovereign AI infrastructure is becoming essential for national competitiveness. The system will enable local researchers and enterprises to become AI-native while maintaining full data sovereignty and security.

India's technology minister Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed plans to attract over $200 billion in infrastructure investment over the next two years through tax incentives and policy support. The G42-Cerebras project joins other major AI infrastructure announcements at the summit, including Adani's $100 billion pledge for data centers and Reliance's $110 billion investment in gigawatt-scale facilities. This supercomputer deployment represents a significant step in India's computational capacity and sovereign AI initiatives, positioning the country to develop AI solutions tailored to its specific needs.
