Israeli settlers shot and killed 19-year-old Nasrallah Abu Siyam, a Palestinian American, during an attack on the West Bank village of Mukhmas, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry and eyewitnesses. The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon when settlers attacked a farmer, prompting clashes with residents. Israeli forces arrived and used tear gas and live ammunition, while armed settlers killed Abu Siyam and injured several others.

Raed Abu Ali, a Mukhmas resident, said settlers became emboldened when Israeli forces arrived and began shooting live bullets. He reported that injured Palestinians were beaten with sticks after falling to the ground. The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed Abu Siyam died from critical wounds sustained near the village east of Ramallah. Abu Siyam's mother told The Associated Press her son was an American citizen, making him the second Palestinian American killed by Israeli settlers in less than a year.

The killing highlights escalating violence in the occupied West Bank, where Israeli forces and settlers killed 240 Palestinians last year while Palestinians killed 17 Israelis, according to UN data. The Palestinian Authority's Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission said Abu Siyam was the first Palestinian killed by settlers in 2026. Israeli authorities acknowledged reports of settlers shooting at Palestinians but did not confirm arrests.
