Suhaib Abualkebash, a 29-year-old Palestinian shepherd, described being stripped, beaten, and zip-tied to a chair by Israeli settlers in the West Bank. The attack, corroborated by family members and American activist Ava Lang, occurred in Khirbet Humsa, a contested area near Israeli settlements. Abualkebash’s eye remained bruised, and he showed a wound from a zip tie wrapped around his penis.

Family members reported settlers stealing 400 sheep, jewelry, and documents, crippling their livelihood. Lang, who witnessed the assault, said settlers targeted women and children, including a 3-year-old girl thrown to the ground. Israeli police launched an investigation but have historically failed to prosecute settlers, with the case filed as a sexual assault and hate crime.

The violence reflects escalating tensions since Hamas’s 2023 attack, with settlers increasingly emboldened as international focus shifts to the Gaza conflict. The family’s compound, once home to hundreds of Bedouin, now faces encroachment by Israeli settlements, intensifying displacement fears.
