A Corning woman was sentenced to six months in Steuben County Jail and 10 years of probation after pleading guilty to rape in the third degree, a class E felony. Jolene Spaulding, 46, faced charges stemming from an inappropriate relationship with a juvenile at Hillside Children's Center-Snell Farms in Bath, where she worked.

The Steuben County Sheriff's Office announced the sentencing after an investigation revealed Spaulding's sexual relationship with the child. She was charged in June 2025 following the probe. The case highlights the serious consequences faced by those who violate trust in positions of care and responsibility.

As part of her sentencing, Spaulding must register as a sex offender in New York State. The case underscores the legal system's response to crimes involving minors and the mandatory registration requirements for convicted offenders.
