A Corning City Police Department recruit, Dylan J. Ellsworth, was arrested Wednesday by New York State Police following an investigation into domestic-related incidents. The arrest came at the request of City of Corning Police Chief Kenzie M. Spaulding after allegations surfaced from Ellsworth's former partner.

The reported incidents occurred between August and December 2025, prompting authorities to refer the case to State Police for an independent review. The Steuben County District Attorney's Office authorized the investigation, which culminated in Ellsworth's arrest at the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy in Big Flats.

Ellsworth faces serious charges including third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, along with misdemeanor assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, and endangering the welfare of a child. He will be arraigned in Steuben County Centralized Arraignment Court, with authorities seeking an order of protection for the victim and child. The investigation remains ongoing.
