An Ithaca man faces attempted murder charges after a stabbing in downtown Ithaca early Sunday morning. Duane Magee, 58, was arrested following an incident at an apartment complex on the 100 block of East Green Street just after 1:30 a.m., according to the Ithaca Police Department.

Police say Magee allegedly stabbed a victim with a knife during what authorities describe as an isolated incident between people familiar with each other. The victim was transported to a regional trauma center and remains in stable condition. Magee was apprehended at the Seneca Street Parking Garage shortly after the attack.

Magee has been charged with attempted murder in the second degree and assault in the first degree, both class B felonies. He was arraigned and is currently being held in the Tompkins County Jail. The investigation remains active as authorities seek additional witnesses to the downtown Ithaca stabbing.
