The gunman killed two and injured over a dozen others in a downtown Austin bar early Sunday, identified as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne. According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Diagne entered the country on a tourist visa in March 2000. Six years later, he became a lawful permanent resident after marrying a U.S. citizen and received an IR-6 visa.

He was naturalized as a U.S. citizen on April 5, 2013. Neighbors in Pflugerville, where Diagne had a 2017 driver's license address, expressed shock, describing him as friendly. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, though he had a prior arrest in Texas for a 2022 vehicle collision.

The FBI conducted a search warrant operation at an East Austin apartment complex Sunday, with neighbors reporting loud noises and a flash-bang device during the raid.
