Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) announced a decrease in second-quarter profit, alongside the retirement of its board chair, Isabelle Courville. The company reported a net income of 1.02 billion Canadian dollars (US$728.9 million), a decline from the previous year's C$1.23 billion. Earnings per share also fell to C$1.15 from C$1.33, though adjusted earnings of C$1.27 per share slightly exceeded analyst expectations of C$1.24.

Despite the profit dip, CPKC saw a 13% increase in revenue, reaching C$4.16 billion compared to C$3.7 billion in the prior year, surpassing Wall Street's expectation of C$4.11 billion. The railroad operator has appointed Gordon Trafton, a board member since 2017, as Courville's successor.

This leadership transition and financial update mark a significant period for the company, as it navigates operational performance and strategic direction under new guidance.
