Lenovo, SMIC, AEM Holdings Market Outlook

Lenovo remains confident in weathering headwinds for consumer electronics, Citi analysts note. Management projects PC shipments to decline around 15% and smartphone shipments to fall roughly 20% in 2H, while commercial PCs show more resilience. To counter unit sales drops, Lenovo will lift average selling prices, sharpen premium mix and chase market share.

SMIC’s 2Q gross margin climbed to 25.3%, surpassing guidance, with wafer price hikes playing a larger role than product mix changes, co‑CEO Zhao Haijun said. The foundry can reallocate capacity to high‑margin products such as microcontrollers or specialty memory, and price increases are expected to filter into earnings gradually.

AEM Holdings may broaden its customer base, boosting growth, according to Maybank Securities’ Jarick Seet. Talks with new clients and a partnership with Taiwan‑listed ASE could open further revenue streams. The Singapore company forecasts 2026 earnings per share of 24.5–27.5 cents, 20‑35% above Maybank’s prior estimates.

These market glides illustrate how pricing strategy, capacity management and new exploration of customer relationships can offset declining volume, sustaining profitability in a competitive technology landscape.
