Omdia data shows global desktop, notebook, and workstation shipments fell 3.6% year‑over‑year to 65.7 million units in 2Q26. Desktop shipments slipped 1.3% to 13.9 million, while notebooks dropped 4.2% to 51.7 million.

Rising memory and storage costs in the first quarter pushed vendors to raise PC prices by 20‑40% across comparable lines. Apple’s recent MacBook price hike, and other manufacturers’ adjustments starting in 4Q25, reflected this inflation.

The pull‑forward buying wave has ended, leaving many B2B customers postponing refreshes. A June Omdia survey found more than half of partners report delayed demand, with 6% indicating cancellations. Commercial fleets will still need upgrades as the Windows 10 EOS deadline approaches.

Component inflation is expected to persist, with suppliers like MLCCs and PCBs also climbing. Lenovo shipped 16.6 million units, holding 25% market share despite a 2% drop. HP shipped 13 million, down 9%. Dell delivered 9.3 million, capturing 14%. Apple shipped 7.3 million, grew on the launch of the MacBook Neo, and added 2 percentage points of share. ASUS shipped 5 million, flat YoY.
