Gold Gains as Fed Rate‑Hike Fears Ease

Gold rose for a third straight session as fears of a U.S. rate hike eased. Spot gold was up $4,424.28 per ounce by 0130 GMT, while futures edged up to $4,480.90.

The dollar lingered near multi‑month lows, making dollar‑priced metals cheaper. IG analyst Tony Sycamore noted bullion performs well when rates stay low, reducing the opportunity cost of holding non‑yielding assets. The Fed is expected to hold rates next month, and market pricing for a September hike fell to a 65% chance of a hold after job losses, low inflation, and weak retail sales.

Investors are awaiting Fed minutes for clearer policy clues. Gold regains safe‑haven status as hawkish rhetoric from Iran pushes yields higher and the country moves toward Latin offensive postures, with no ceasefire extension.

Other metals followed suit: spot silver rose 0.9% to $66.40, platinum up 0.2% to $1,772.75, and palladium down 0.3% at $1,330.05.
