Gold Rises as U.S., Iran Pause Conflict

Gold rises in Asian trade. The metal likely found some relief as oil prices retreated, bond yields inched lower and the dollar softened, says Kudo.com's Konstantinos Chrysikos in an email.

The U.S. and Iran also took a pause from fighting over the weekend, which could have contributed to falling oil prices. Lower oil prices likely helps to stem global inflationary pressures, easing concerns of monetary-policy tightening.

A higher interest-rate environment typically weighs on nonyielding assets like gold. Spot gold gains 1.0% to $4,093.89 a troy ounce.
