Republican Rep. Cory Mills was defeated in Florida’s 7th‑District primary by former TV anchor Ryan Elijah despite Donald Trump’s endorsement. With more than 80% of the vote counted, Elijah captured 46% to Mills’ 34%.

Mills has faced a House Ethics Committee probe over alleged sexual misconduct and campaign‑finance violations, plus a Justice Department investigation into his finances. He has denied wrongdoing, yet the investigations have eroded support from key GOP figures.

Elijah’s campaign, backed by prominent Florida Republicans, outspent Mills in advertising and fundraising, raising roughly $900,000 compared to Mills’ $12,000 on ads.

The loss places Mills among a rare group of Trump‑backed incumbents who fell in primaries this year, joining the likes of Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee. The outcome leaves the(INTL) 7th‑District seat open for a potentially competitive general election.
