Boeing Delays 737 Max Deliveries Due to Wiring Issue

Boeing announced delays in delivering some 737 Max jets after discovering small scratches on wiring caused by a machining error. The company said the issue affects an unspecified number of planes but can be fixed within days. Boeing emphasized the problem doesn't impact the safety of planes currently in service.

This wiring issue could reduce deliveries in the first quarter, though Boeing maintains it will still meet its 2026 target of about 500 Max jets. The company reported delivering 51 planes in February, its best monthly total since 2017. With over 6,100 airplane orders in backlog, two-thirds are for the 737 Max.

The problem comes as Boeing works to rebuild trust after a 2024 incident where a panel blew off a Max jet in flight. That episode led to leadership changes, business restructuring, and factory reforms. Airlines report improved quality since then, and the FAA recently eased restrictions on the company.
