Investigators discovered cracks in the bear strap—a structural reinforcement—around the forward gallery door on some older models. The FAA will require inspection of the fuselage skin, focusing on the forward gallery door’s bear strap, a critical stress point that, if compromised, could lead to catastrophic failure during flight.

The directive underscores the agency’s commitment to safety and aims to prevent potential failures before they occur. Boeing has stated that the inspections will be carried out by approved maintenance facilities, and the company is cooperating fully with the FAA's oversight.
