Senegalese football star Sadio Mané is investing $20.4 million of his own money into an agro-industrial complex in his hometown of Bambali to process and export mangoes. The project, funded with 11.7 billion CFA francs, aims to sort fresh mangoes and produce pulp, dried fruit, and mango butter. Mané says he wants 'the wealth of our land to stay here, at home.' Senegal currently processes only about 2% of its mango exports locally despite shipping tens of thousands of tons to Europe.

The facility plans to process 8,500 tons annually using a 500-hectare plantation to secure supply. Promoters project returns exceeding 100% on investment, with profitability expected in the second year. Sales will target Senegalese, African, European, and Middle Eastern markets.

The investment is part of Mané’s broader portfolio, which includes a majority stake in French club Bourges FC, property and hospitality ventures in France, and real estate in Senegal, including a shopping mall in Dakar’s Almadies neighborhood.
