Brookfield has completed the first close of Brookfield Middle East Partners, raising approximately $2bn for a private equity fund anchored by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) to invest across Saudi Arabia and the wider region. The close gives Brookfield a dedicated regional buyout vehicle backed by one of the world's largest sovereign investors.

The fund will pursue buyouts, minority growth equity investments, and other opportunities across sectors including financial services, business services, consumer services, industrials, technology, and healthcare. Around half of its investments are earmarked for Saudi Arabia, with the balance targeting high-growth Gulf Cooperation Council markets. PIF has come in as a cornerstone investor alongside other global and regional institutions.

Yazeed A. Al-Humied, Deputy Governor and Head of MENA Investments at PIF, framed the tie-up as a way to embed international private equity locally. For Brookfield, the fund represents both conviction and alignment. The firm has committed $500m of its own capital alongside its investment partners. Bruce Flatt, Chief Executive of Brookfield Corporation, pointed to the regional growth thesis underpinning the raise.

The vehicle builds on an established regional presence. Brookfield has invested in the Middle East since 2015 and currently manages more than $16bn in regional assets across private equity, real estate, and infrastructure. Alongside the capital, Brookfield said it would introduce the Brookfield Academy in Saudi Arabia to provide professional development for local industry participants.
