Cricket, archery, and shooting are strong contenders to be reinstated for the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, India. Following Victoria's withdrawal as hosts for the 2026 Games, the programme in Glasgow was reduced, prompting ongoing discussions about the sporting lineup for India.

Commonwealth Sport CEO Katie Sadlier remained tight-lipped, but India Olympic Association's Raghu Iyer indicated that sports where India excels, such as shooting and archery, are being prioritized. Cricket, which featured in Birmingham 2022, is also a possibility, especially as at least two team sports will be added. Iyer noted that choices like cricket, archery, and shooting were "interesting."

India, as host nation, can propose two new sports and advocate for others significant to the country. While no final decisions are made, Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, a venue for Cricket World Cup finals, will host events. This event is seen as a step towards India's ambition to host the 2036 Olympic Games. The reduced programme in Glasgow aimed to lower hosting costs, and the 2030 Games are expected to feature 17 sports, a rise from Glasgow but a decrease from the 26 sports in Victoria.
