Wimbledon 2026 video review technology introduced

Wimbledon will introduce a video review system for the 2026 tournament, allowing players to challenge line calls and umpire decisions during matches. The system will also permit reviews at the end of a point if a player believes their opponent committed hindrance, as seen when Daniil Medvedev used it against Jack Draper in Indian Wells. After Draper gestured during a rally, umpire Aurelie Tourte reviewed footage and awarded the point to Medvedev, ruling Draper’s action constituted hindrance.

Draper acknowledged the difficulty but noted Medvedev “played the rules well.” ATP Tour events will adopt the technology by 2026, following its use at the US Open (2023) and Australian Open (2025). Wimbledon will also add visual scoreboard indicators to clarify line calls, building on the Australian Open’s red-flashing net posts for out balls. With 100 days until the event, the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) announced increased qualifying capacity at Roehampton, raising daily limits from 3,500 to 4,000.
