Ros Canter and Lordships Graffalo have become the first rider and horse combination to win the Badminton Horse Trials three times, achieving the feat in dominant fashion. Canter, 40, who helped Team GB to Olympic gold at Paris 2024, was competing just 16 weeks after giving birth to her second child, daughter Seneh. The pair led from halfway and held their nerve through the showjumping finale to seal their place in eventing history.

Known affectionately as "Walter", the 14-year-old bay gelding and his rider finished with a final score of 25.7 penalties, giving them a cushion of 10.2 penalties over second-placed Tim Price and Falco. This was their third Badminton victory in four years, making them the first combination to achieve a hat-trick since the event began in 1949. Having also won Burghley Horse Trials for a second time last September, the pair are now five-time five-star winners.

The achievement elevates Lordships Graffalo to the most decorated horse in eventing history. "I thought he jumped his socks off in there today," Canter said on BBC Two while holding Seneh. "He enables me to get myself into a position where I believe I can be one of the fastest riders in the world." The victory cements an extraordinary comeback from Olympic gold to becoming a record-breaking mother of two.
