Dan Skelton Makes History With Winners at Every UK Jumps Track

Dan Skelton made history at Perth on Saturday, becoming the first trainer ever to win at every jumps track in Britain during a single season. Heltenham's victory in the Bedmax Capercaillie Handicap Chase gave Skelton a winner at all 41 National Hunt circuits, completing a remarkable feat that had never been achieved before in the sport.

After being agonisingly thwarted by Willie Mullins in the last two years, Skelton has won nearly £5million in prize money this term and is poised to claim his first championship title. The achievement almost didn't happen—owner Jimmy Fyffe convinced him to send Made U Blush to Musselburgh, the final track needed. "It took 21 runners to get a winner at Plumpton," Skelton told Racing TV. "Luckily it's taken a few less at Perth but I'm in awe of my team."

Harry Skelton delivered a perfectly timed ride on the 15-8 favourite, getting up to win by one and three-quarter lengths. Elsewhere, Paul Nicholls' No Drama This End ended his hurdling career on a high ahead of a switch to fences in November, while Lucinda Russell's Apple Away secured victory in the Fair Maid Of Perth Mares' Chase to earn a shot at the French Champion Hurdle.

Olly Murphy completed a treble on the card, with Gee Force Flyer, Barlovento and Atlantic City all winning.
