Pakistan ended their eight-match away Test losing streak on Wednesday with an emphatic eight-wicket victory over the West Indies. Abdullah Shafique and captain Babar Azam, in his first series back as skipper, guided Pakistan to 77-2 with unbeaten knocks of 24 runs each, securing the win shortly after lunch on day four and drawing the series 1-1.

Babar sealed the victory by hitting back-to-back sixes. His decision to play an additional spinner, Sajid Khan, was vindicated as West Indies' batting crumbled in the second innings, setting Pakistan a modest target of 75. Sajid (4-32) and Usman (4-39) shared eight wickets.

This win marks Pakistan's first away Test victory since 2023 against Sri Lanka and comes ahead of their upcoming Test series against England in August and September, featuring matches at Headingley, Lord's, and Edgbaston.
