Bruce Mouat rebounded impressively from his mixed doubles disappointment to lead Team GB's men's curling team to a 9-4 victory over China in their opening match at the Winter Olympics. The 31-year-old Scottish skip delivered an accomplished display, showcasing why he's considered one of the world's best curlers.

Just 24 hours earlier, Mouat and partner Jen Dodds had fallen short in the bronze-medal match in the Cortina Curling Stadium for the second consecutive Games. But the world champion, who has claimed three world titles in the past five years, showed his class against China. After trading points in the opening ends, Mouat's team pulled ahead with a three-point score in the third end and never looked back.

The Scots led 5-2 at halftime before Mouat's magnificent double take-out and composed closing throw extended their advantage to 8-3 after seven ends. Despite China limiting the damage in the eighth, GB closed out the ninth end to secure the win with an end to spare. The victory sets up a tougher test on Thursday against Sweden, who defeated Mouat's team in the 2022 final.
