England flanker Marlie Packer announced she will leave Saracens at season’s end, ending a nine‑year spell that began in 2017. The double World Cup winner amassed 116 caps for the Red Roses and scored six tries on her Saracens debut. She featured in England’s 2014 and 2025 triumphs, cementing her modern rugby icon status.

During her time at Saracens, Packer earned the 2023 World Rugby Women’s 15s Player of the Year award and captained the side on numerous occasions. Director of Rugby Alex Austerberry praised her as an “exceptional servant,” noting her competitiveness and knack for delivering in high‑pressure moments helped shape the squad’s identity and his leadership on and off the field.

With Packer’s departure, Saracens must replace a leader who has embodied the club’s ethos for a decade. Her influence extended beyond the pitch, where she championed the women’s game and mentored younger players. The team will look to internal talent to fill the void as the season draws to a close.
