Team Northern Ireland's Kate O'Connor is poised to win her first Commonwealth Games gold medal, maintaining her lead in the heptathlon with only the final event remaining.

O'Connor extended her advantage after strong performances in the long jump and javelin, reaching 5611 points. She holds a 258-point lead over England's Jade O'Dowda, who sits in second place. The competition concludes with the 800m race on Wednesday evening.

In the long jump, O'Connor achieved a leap of 6.37m, and she dominated the javelin with a season's best throw of 52.85m, being the only competitor to surpass 50 meters. O'Connor's teammate, Anna Macauley, is currently in eighth place overall.
