Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta faces a welcome defensive dilemma with William Saliba's return from back injury. The 25-year-old French center-back has resumed full training ahead of the Champions League clash with Slavia Prague. Saliba was instrumental in Arsenal's Premier League title win last season, conceding only 27 league goals.
However, his absence saw summer signing Ezri Konsa step in seamlessly. Partnered with Gabriel Magalhaes, Konsa has helped Arsenal keep just five goals in nine games this season. The England international has made 286 appearances for Villa and earned praise for his aggression and pace.
Arteta has praised Konsa's "unbelievable" settling-in period. With Saliba pushing for a return, Arteta must decide whether to persist with the formidable Konsa-Gabriel partnership or recall the title-winning duo. Arsenal host Hull Saturday before the next international break, giving Saliba time to build match fitness.
When Saliba returns, Arteta faces the prospect of disappointing other defenders like Ben White and Jurrien Timber in his starting lineup plans.
