GB Winter Paralympics: One Medal, Future Hope

Great Britain endured their worst Winter Paralympic performance since 2010, claiming just one silver medal through Neil Simpson and guide Rob Poth in the visually impaired alpine combined. The disappointing result came despite over £7m investment from UK Sport across the past four years, with 17 of 25 team members making their Paralympic debut.

Medal chances came and went throughout the Games, with Simpson narrowly missing out on additional hardware after recording two fourth-place finishes in downhill and super G. GB's most decorated Winter Paralympian Menna Fitzpatrick competed despite not being fully fit following a leg break and ACL injury sustained within the past 18 months.

Despite the medal shortfall, GB officials remain optimistic about the future. Simpson and Fitzpatrick will continue to the 2030 Games, while young talents like 16-year-old Dom Allen showed promising performances. UK Sport emphasizes that funding decisions consider not just current results but also future potential, with the body already discussing support for the next four-year cycle.
