Djokovic Documentary: The Inner Battle of Tennis Great

Nobody doubts Novak Djokovic more than himself. Despite winning a record 24 Grand Slam singles titles and numerous Masters 1,000 crowns, the 39-year-old Serbian remains perpetually unsatisfied.

In a new Amazon documentary, Djokovic admits: "I am always looking to be more - better, faster, stronger. Oftentimes I feel I am imprisoning myself." He calls himself "the number one doubter," constantly striving to prove himself wrong rather than right.

His intense drive stems from a childhood marked by hardship. Born in Belgrade during the 1999 NATO bombings, young Djokovic recalled fleeing his apartment for safety and witnessing a plane strike a nearby hospital. His father borrowed money from unsavory sources to fund his tennis dreams, making him an outsider in the elitist sport.

Tennis became his sanctuary, where he felt safe and worthy. After winning Olympic gold in Paris 2024, the 39-year-old says he still feels capable of competing at the highest level and aims for the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

"As long as I have the drive, the passion... I want to keep going," Djokovic says, refusing to set an "expiry date" on his remarkable career.
