Scotland's flagbearers for the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony in Glasgow have been confirmed as five-time champion bowler Alex Marshall and two-time judo champion Sarah Adlington. Marshall, Scotland's most decorated Commonwealth athlete, expressed his immense pride, stating, "It is a huge honour and a great feeling." Adlington is aiming for a historic third judo gold.

England will be represented by bowls medallist Sian Honnor and swimmer Luke Greenbank. Honnor described her nomination as "amazing" and a "great platform for the sport." Wales' flagbearers are boxer Rosie Eccles, who will celebrate her 30th birthday on the day of the ceremony, and bowler Daniel Salmon. Eccles conveyed her deep pride in representing Wales and leading out "amazing athletes."

Northern Ireland's flagbearers are set to be announced on Thursday.
