Bud Cauley finished the Canadian Open on 17-under 263, handing himself the PGA Tour’s first title after an eight‑year battle with injury. The 36‑year‑old American opened the final round on a birdie chip at 12, then shot a five‑under 65 to seize a three‑stroke lead before the 16th.

Cauley’s comeback began in June 2018 when a car crash left him with six broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a fractured left leg. He returned to play four months later, but complications in 2020 kept him off the tour until 2024. The win marks 239th PGA appearance for the veteran.

Cauley overtook leader Jackson Suber on the back nine, stringing four birdies in five holes to build a three‑shot cushion. Matt Fitzpatrick fell two strokes back after a bogey on 17, ending his title bid. Hovland rounded out the top three at 14‑under, while the field saw J Stanger, B Garnett and others finish in the top dozen.

The victory crowns a career that once seemed ruined, proving resilience can translate into triumph. With the Canadian Open win, Cauley earns full exemption for the remainder of the season and secures entry into the next major championships. His triumph reminds players that setbacks can fuel long‑term success when matched with relentless determination.
