Cameron Congreve, a 22-year-old Welsh international winger from Swansea City's academy, is set to join Belgian club Westerlo for a seven-figure fee. The move follows his impressive loan spell at Dundee, where he earned his first senior international caps in June friendlies against Ghana and Romania. Despite potential competition for a first-team spot at Swansea in 2026-27, the club sanctioned his exit. The deal includes add-ons, a sell-on clause, and an option for Swansea to match rival bids.

Congreve joined Swansea at under-nine level and made 19 senior appearances, including three league starts, scoring three goals. Prior to Dundee, he scored six times in 47 games during a 2024-25 loan at Bromley. His performance at Dundee highlighted his potential, though Swansea prioritized his exit.

The transfer underscores Swansea's strategy of developing young talent while managing squad dynamics. The club recently sold another Welsh international, Liam Cullen, to Leicester City, signaling a focus on balancing youth development with financial returns.

Congreve's journey from Swansea's youth system to a Belgian top-flight club reflects his growth as a player. His adaptability in different leagues, from Scotland to Belgium, positions him for further international opportunities.
