British hopes in the Wimbledon doubles draws suffered a swift exit on Thursday, with all six home pairings falling in the first round. Katie Boulter and Heather Watson were among the prominent contenders to be eliminated, succumbing in a marathon second-set tie-break. Their defeat highlighted a tough day for British tennis at the All England Club.

Boulter and Watson battled hard, saving four match points in their 6-4 6-7 (12-10) 6-3 loss to Poland's Katarzyna Piter and Czech Anna Siskova. Other notable British pairs to fall included Jodie Burrage and Mika Stojsavljevic, who lost in straight sets to the 10th seeds. The 12th seeds, Olivia Nicholls and her Slovakian partner, also exited.

Teenagers Mimi Xu and Alicia Dudeney, alongside Harriet Dart and Maia Lumsden, were also unable to advance past their opening matches. Madeleine Brooks and Amelia Rajecki faced a similarly tough draw, losing to a strong seeded German-Russian combination. Meanwhile, British men's doubles teams, including top seeds Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara, advanced to the second round.

While the women's doubles saw a near-total British washout, the men's contingent, including defending champions Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool, secured their passage to the next stage. Their continued presence offers a glimmer of hope for British success in the doubles events.
