Former England hooker Brian Moore will call time on a 26‑year commentary career after co‑hosting the England women’s Women's Six Nations showdown with France on Sunday. The 64‑year‑old earned 64 caps and toured twice with the British and Irish Lions before moving behind the microphone for BBC Sport and other broadcasters. He signs off following England’s record‑breaking fifth consecutive Grand Slam bid.

Moore, also a practising solicitor, passed a Rugby Football Union refereeing exam in 2010 to deepen his grasp of the laws he narrates. The experience reinforced his frustration that officials rarely enforce the straight‑feed rule at scrums, a point he has publicly challenged. He thanked fans for decades of support, acknowledging that not everyone will have liked his style.

Colleagues recalled his mentorship, noting his trademark “Pitbull” intensity and the camaraderie he offered to newcomers. A highlight of his tenure was the England women’s World Cup triumph on home soil in September 2025, a moment Moore described as a fitting capstone to his advocacy for the women’s game. Sunday’s broadcast will feature his voice one final time, closing an era.
