Tommy Makinson has confirmed he will retire at the end of the 2026 Super League campaign. The 34‑year‑old wing, who spent the bulk of his career with St Helens, will finish his playing days with Catalans Dragons after joining the French club ahead of the 2025 season.

During his time at Saints he won five Super League titles (2014, 2019‑2022), a World Club Challenge, a Challenge Cup, and four League Leaders' Shields. He was named in the Super League Dream Team three times and racked up over 200 tries in more than 300 appearances. Since moving to Catalans he has added 20 tries in 37 games and has earned over 20 caps for England.

Makinson said he feels it is the right moment to announce his final season, expressing gratitude for the support from family, teammates, coaches and fans. He wants to finish his career on a high note, enjoying every remaining match.

Sky Sports will broadcast all Super League games live this season, with additional matches available on Sky Sports+.
