Catalans Dragons captain Benjamin Garcia will retire from playing at the end of the 2026 Super League season. He will then transition into a new role as the club's sporting director, a position he has prepared for by completing sports management qualifications.

Garcia, who joined the Dragons in 2013, has amassed 282 appearances and scored 42 tries over 14 seasons, making him the third-most capped player in the club's history. His decorated playing career includes winning the Challenge Cup, the League Leaders' Shield, and helping the team reach two Super League Grand Finals in 2021 and 2023.

Club chairman Bernard Guasch praised Garcia's loyalty and commitment, stating he embodies the club's values. Garcia expressed his pride in his achievements and excitement for his new challenge, aiming to contribute to the club's growth off the field. The sporting director role was vacant following Neil Mc Ilroy's departure.
