West Ham have urged fans to stop singing an "offensive and divisive" chant targeting winger Manor Solomon during their opening Championship match against Burnley. The chant contained an anti-Palestine message and was heard from a section of away supporters at Turf Moor during last Sunday's 2-2 draw.

In a statement issued before West Ham's first home match of the Championship season against Charlton, the club emphasized that every supporter is an ambassador and reminded fans of their responsibility to represent the club appropriately. They stressed that all supporters within their diverse fanbase should feel safe, respected, and included.

The club acknowledged that singing and chanting are traditional parts of the matchday experience but encouraged supporters to support their team positively. Manor Solomon, 27, joined West Ham from Tottenham and has previously played for Fulham and Leeds. He has been capped 49 times by Israel and won three titles with Shakhtar Donetsk.
