Tottenham's Webb Complaint Over Refereeing Inconsistency

Tottenham Hotspur have formally written to PGMOL chief Howard Webb to express their frustration over what they perceive as inconsistent refereeing decisions this season. The club's correspondence focuses on incidents involving contact in the penalty area that have resulted in goals being allowed or disallowed.

A key example cited by Spurs is the disallowed goal by Randal Kolo Muani during their 4-1 defeat to Arsenal on February 22. The France international's strike would have leveled the score at 2-2, but was ruled out after officials judged he had pushed Gabriel Magalhaes. This decision was reinforced by referee Peter Bankes on the Match Officials Mic'd Up show, stating that contact with two hands on the back constituted a clear push.

Tottenham's frustration intensified after their 2-1 loss to Fulham, where Harry Wilson's opening goal was allowed to stand despite apparent contact between Raul Jimenez and Radu Dragusin in the build-up. Spurs argue this inconsistency in applying the same standards has directly impacted their results this season.
