Swansea City and the Welsh football community are mourning the loss of Herbie Williams, who died at age 85. A local born talent, Williams joined the club as a teenager in 1955 and spent nearly two decades as a mainstay in the lineup from 1958 to 1975.

His longevity at the club remains a benchmark for current players. Williams recorded 513 league appearances, the third highest total in the history of the club. Across all competitions, he made 608 appearances and scored 129 goals, cementing his status as one of the most productive players to ever wear the shirt.

The Championship side described him as one of their most loyal servants and a humble man with a deep affection for his hometown. He represented both his city and the Wales international squad during a career defined by consistency and dedication to a single club.

His contributions over 17 years of professional play left a permanent mark on the club's record books. Williams remains one of the few players to surpass 600 total appearances for the Swans.
