Millwall Badge KKK Illustration Legal Action

Millwall are considering legal action after Westminster City Council used their club badge on an illustration of a Ku Klux Klan member in a children's anti-racism booklet. The image showed a cartoon figure wearing white hood and robes with Millwall's crest, placed next to former Chelsea player Paul Canoville. Westminster has apologized and removed the material from circulation.

The booklet focused on Canoville, who was the first black player for Chelsea and experienced racial abuse at Millwall reserves in the 1980s. The Paul Canoville Foundation clarified it had no involvement in creating the booklet, stating it was "not produced by, commissioned by, or approved" by them or Canoville. They emphasized their role was limited to Canoville's personal appearances in the associated program.

Millwall described the "serious misuse of a registered club badge" as creating a "false and damaging image of the club." The council confirmed remaining copies would be destroyed. Millwall, currently third in the Championship table, remains undecided on pursuing legal action despite the council's apology and remedial actions.
