Gianni Infantino will continue as Fifa president after receiving the backing of senior executives in a meeting in Rabat, Morocco. The decision comes despite Fifa admitting "mistakes" were made regarding the proposed Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE) plan, which aimed to sell stakes in Fifa competitions to private investors.

Mounting criticism followed the aborted attempt, with Uefa stating it had lost confidence in Infantino and calling the FFE proposal a "shabby, back room, opaque deal." Internal criticism also surfaced from secretary general Mattias Grofstrom, who described the situation as "a sad and reproachable series of events." However, Grofstrom and the management board "reaffirmed their full support" for Infantino following the meeting.

Fifa acknowledged errors in handling the FFE proposal, particularly after it was leaked to the media on 28 July. The organization apologized and committed to preventing similar issues, while also vowing to protect its integrity. Fifa also denied claims that Infantino promised Morocco the 2030 World Cup final in exchange for support, labeling the story "false and misleading."
