Charlton Athletic's operating loss widened to £16.7 million in the year ending June 2025, up from £13.9 million, despite a 27% revenue increase to £11.2 million following their Championship promotion. The Addicks reported £3 million in stadium and training ground investments, while staff bonuses and higher second-tier wages contributed to the financial strain.

Chief financial officer Ed Warrick emphasized the club entered the Championship in a stronger position than recent years, with modern facilities and financial stability. However, the club's statement warned that the current economic model is unsustainable, calling for football to 'alter the economics' of the game to reduce cash losses across aspiring clubs.

Charlton highlighted positive developments including increased attendances, season ticket sales, and broadcast revenues after their play-off promotion last May. The club carries no external debt, positioning them better than many Championship rivals. Nathan Jones's team currently sits 18th in the table as they navigate their first season back in the second tier.
