Celtic are reportedly eyeing Matteo Cancellieri as a replacement for Daizen Maeda, who has completed a medical at Ipswich Town before a prospective switch to the Premier League.

The move comes after former Celtic striker Chris Sutton slammed the decision to sell Maeda before the Champions League qualifier as "utter baffling" and highlighted the reported free of £8m—potentially rising to £10m—as "buttons".

Meanwhile, Celtic are also weighing other potential recruits: MLS side Charlotte is in talks to sign former Rangers captain James Tavernier, while Bodo/Glimt want £8m for striker Kasper Hogh and Paderborn are holding out for big money for midfielder Mika Baur.
