Beer Buff Collects 48 World Cup Brews

London music analyst Gus Hully has completed an official quirky quest for the World Cup 2026 – a beer from each of the 48 participating nations. Inspired by failed attempts in 2010 and 2012, he finally succeeded after years of collecting drinks for every men’s and women’s tournament since Euro 2016. The haul includes craft brews, non‑alcoholic malt drinks and even a Panamanian label snagged on holiday.

Gathering the set cost Hully roughly £250, a price he paid chasing hard‑to‑find bottles. Iraqi beer arrived via a Polish souvenir seller for £30, while Saudi and Qatari non‑alcoholic malt drinks required trades with fellow collectors. Friends shipped crates from Curaçao, Jordan and Algeria, and the Iranian community in Finchley helped secure the final Iranian brew.

Hully plans to sip each bottle only after its nation exits the tournament, turning every defeat into a personal toast. He admits the logistical headache makes this his likely last World Cup challenge, though a slimmer Euro 2028 roster might tempt him back. For now, his collection sits in his London flat, a fizzy reminder of global football fandom.
