Google's six-month AI pilot with 100 Northern Ireland teachers demonstrated significant time savings. Educators using Gemini and Google Workspace tools reported reclaiming an average of 10 weekly hours, which they reinvested in student engagement and professional development. The partnership between C2k and Google for Education yielded over 600 unique use cases, from administrative work to creative lesson planning.

Teachers leveraged AI for diverse applications, including drafting parent letters, creating curriculum-based podcasts, and developing interactive visual aids for neurodivergent students. A geography teacher used NotebookLM's MindMap feature to help students grasp complex concepts, while an ICT coordinator generated images to spark creative writing. The technology proved particularly valuable for creating inclusive learning environments tailored to individual student needs.

Following the pilot's success, C2k plans to expand Gemini training across Northern Ireland. The initiative reinforces Google's belief that AI serves as a collaborative tool rather than a teacher replacement. As Damian Harvey, Interim Head of C2k, emphasized, educators must embrace this opportunity while maintaining ownership of AI implementation. The program demonstrates how thoughtful integration of AI can enhance teaching without diminishing the irreplaceable human element of education.
