Blizzard has officially confirmed Diablo 5, targeting a Spring 2029 release window. Narrative director Jennifer Hepler revealed that the protagonist shares a "unique bond" with Diablo himself, which explains how the character can face the Lord of Terror while remaining vulnerable to his power. This connection opens access to the Terror Realm, Diablo's personal domain, where players can survive to unlock new abilities.

The game introduces significant structural changes. There are no functioning towns, as Diablo already won by the game's start, forcing players to build a traveling caravan. This caravan picks up merchants, craftspeople, and companions as players progress. Additionally, Blizzard is introducing "Terror Forming," where the world visibly changes upon returning to locations due to corrupting Dread Commanders reshaping the terrain.

Three years is a long wait, but Blizzard will likely keep drip-feeding updates before launch. This gives fans plenty to discuss in the meantime as they anticipate the next installment in the franchise.
