OpenAI has acquired Promptfoo, an AI security platform, to enhance its Frontier platform's security testing capabilities. The acquisition brings Promptfoo's technology directly into OpenAI's platform for building and operating AI coworkers, addressing growing enterprise needs for systematic security evaluation and compliance.

Promptfoo, led by Ian Webster and Michael D'Angelo, has built tools trusted by over 25 percent of Fortune 500 companies. The platform helps enterprises identify vulnerabilities like prompt injections, jailbreaks, and data leaks during AI development. OpenAI plans to integrate these automated security testing and red-teaming capabilities natively into Frontier.

This move strengthens OpenAI's enterprise offerings by embedding security and evaluation directly into development workflows. The integration will provide enterprises with built-in oversight tools, automated risk detection, and compliance documentation capabilities. OpenAI will continue developing Promptfoo's open-source project while advancing integrated enterprise features within Frontier.
