iPhone Workout Live Activity: Lock & Dynamic Island

Musklr displays your current set, the weight lifted last time, and a running rest timer right on the Lock Screen. No unlocking required—just glance and return. Apple’s Live Activities keep a small, updating card visible while you work out. On phones with a Dynamic Island, the same card folds into the pill at the top. Apple introduced them in iOS 16, and they refresh in real time.

The card shows the exercise, weight, reps you’re about to do, and a “Last” line with the previous session’s numbers—e.g., 60 kg × 8—so you know whether to add weight. A set counter tells how many remain, and a rest timer with inline controls lets you add or subtract 15 seconds or skip rest. Tapping a button opens Musklr to that action. If an Apple Watch supplies your heart rate, it appears on the card, giving you a quick recovery read.

Musklr syncs with the Apple Watch app. Log a set on the watch and the Lock Screen card updates; start a rest timer on the phone and the watch counts down. Battery impact is minimal—iOS draws the card, not Musklr in the background. The feature works on iPhone 14 Pro and newer for Dynamic Island, and on older models for the Lock Screen only. It requires iOS 16.2 or later and is free on the App Store.
