Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), is set to pay Thomson Reuters $125 million for access to extensive personal data. This data includes names, addresses, Social Security numbers, ethnicity, social media activity, and geolocation information.

The agency intends to use this data to investigate what it terms "voter fraud" and immigration fraud. Procurement documents indicate that Thomson Reuters can provide ICE with continuous monitoring capabilities for millions of individuals and entities.

This development follows recent events, including a press conference by President Trump concerning election security and two fatal shootings by ICE agents within a week. The contract highlights concerns about government access to vast amounts of personal data for investigative purposes.
