Grindr Targets Wealthy Gay Men With $350/Month Premium Tier

Grindr CEO George Arison is pushing the dating app into premium services, including a product that could cost $350 a month and a "luxury" social club for affluent gay men. Arison told the Financial Times the targets are users with significant disposable income who value their time. Grindr had 1.4 million paying users among 15 million monthly active users in Q2 2026, about 9%, and Morgan Stanley estimates it monetizes 30% less than rivals like Tinder and Bumble.

Despite slower monetization, Grindr has steadily grown users while peers have declined. New offerings include Edge, an AI-driven service in public testing that suggests profile improvements and compatible partners, and a planned "luxury lifestyle and experiences product" Arison says will be expensive. Since Arison joined in 2022, Grindr's stock has risen about a third, with full-year revenue guidance of at least $540 million and adjusted earnings of $232 million.

Arison warned the UK's Online Safety Act, which requires age verification for adult content, has deterred some users worried about being outed, calling the impact "pretty awful." He advocates app-store-level verification instead.
